Book Launch Event at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Celebrates Philippine Culture and Music

Manila, Philippines – February 28, 2025 – The Cultural Center of the Philippines was abuzz with excitement today as it hosted a grand book launch event celebrating Philippine culture and music during its National Arts Month. The event was graced by notable personalities including Sir Alan Moore (editor of Philam News), Jake Sanders (editor of Pacific Island News), Richard Sanders (staff writer) and Brad Oliver from the US. Various dignitaries and esteemed guests also attended the event, making it a memorable occasion.

The program was divided into two parts: the book launch of HIMIG: An Anthology of Filipino Folk Songs and 2 cook books “Laing” and “Pinakbet” and the launching of the Emiliano C. Cruz Foundation.

Part I: Book Launch

  1. Welcome – The event commenced with a warm welcome of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Ms Kaye Tinga.
  2. Greetings and Introduction of the Book Team – Tawid Publications introduced the book team, setting the stage for the celebration.
  3. Short Discussion about the Background of the Book – The author, artist, music reader, consultant, and the President of the National Book Development Board (NBDB) provided insights into the background of the book.
  4. Signing of the Books – Donated books for CCP were signed by the author and other contributors.
  5. Presentation of the Book – The Emiliano C. Cruz Foundation and Tawid Publications’ book team presented the book to the CCP President.
  6. Acceptance of the Book – The CCP President accepted the book and delivered a short message.
  7. Photo Op – A photo opportunity followed, capturing the joyous moments of the event.

Part II: Launching of the Emiliano C. Cruz Foundation

  1. Short Profile of Emiliano C. Cruz – A brief profile of Emiliano C. Cruz was presented, highlighting his contributions and legacy.
  2. Profile of the Foundation – Former Consul General and Assistant Secretary, IAS, DFA Julius Caesar A. Flores, President of the Emiliano C. Cruz Foundation, provided an overview of the foundation.
  3. Oath Taking of Officers and Members – The CCP President or representative administered the oath to the officers and members of the foundation.
  4. Message of CCP President or Representative – The CCP President delivered a heartfelt message.
  5. Musical Number – The event featured a musical performance by Mr. Bong Antivola, the book illustrator and former Philippine Consul General of Xiamen and now DFA Assistant Secretary Mrs. Maria Antonina M. Mendoza-Oblena on piano accompaniment.
  6. Photo Op/Refreshments/Socials – The event concluded with a photo opportunity, refreshments, and social interactions among the attendees.
