A new chapter for Zamboanga City

The recently concluded elections in Zamboanga City last May 12, 2025, have brought forth a new set of leaders who are expected to steer the city towards progress and development. As the votes were casted, counted and the winners declared, the people of Zamboanga City now look forward to the promises made during the campaign period being turned into reality.
Among the winners, Khymer Adan Olaso emerged as the new leader of the city, garnering 129,670 votes. Alongside, former Mayor now Vice-Mayor Elect Beng Climaco will serve as the second-in-command, tasked with supporting the mayor in implementing the city’s agenda.
In the congressional races, Kat Sikat Chua and Jerry Totong Perez secured their seats in the House of Representatives, where they will represent the interests of Zamboanga City’s District 1 & District 2. Their roles will be crucial in contributing to national legislation that affects the city and its constituents.
The election results reflect the will of the people, and it’s imperative that the winners honor their campaign promises. The citizens of Zamboanga City are eager to see improvements in areas such as traffic, infrastructure, education, healthcare, etc.
As the city transitions to new leadership, it’s essential to maintain the spirit of unity and cooperation. The elected officials must work together, not just within their teams but also with various sectors of the community, to address the challenges faced by Zamboanga City.
The road ahead won’t be easy. The new administration will be expected to tackle pressing issues such as challenges or issues faced by the city particularly the increasing shooting incidents and as such crimes. However, with the trust given to them by the electorate, there’s an opportunity for the elected leaders to make significant strides towards a more prosperous and peaceful Zamboanga City.
To the winners, we extend our congratulations. May your terms be marked by wisdom, integrity, and a relentless pursuit of the welfare of the people of Zamboanga City. To the losers, we acknowledge your efforts and commitment to public service, encouraging you to continue contributing to the city’s growth in your own ways.
As Zamboanga City embarks on this new chapter, the entire community must support its leaders in their endeavors, ensuring that the city moves forward on a path of progress and development.
