Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a successful operation against illegal smuggling activities, the Zamboanga del Sur Maritime Police seized approximately 190 cases of contraband cigarettes with an estimated value of \u20b110.8 million in Pagadian City. Major Benzaar Mukarram of the maritime police led the operation along the Yllana Bay area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Major Mukarram highlighted the crucial role of the community in the operation. He emphasized that the police received a vital tip from alert locals about the area’s suspicious activities. This swift action from the community allowed the authorities to intercept the illegal shipment of cigarettes before it could reach its intended destination, demonstrating the power of community collaboration in law enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Six individuals were apprehended in connection with the smuggling attempt as a result of the operation. The suspects are currently in police custody and will face charges of violating Republic Act 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seized contraband cigarettes will be turned over to the Bureau of Customs (BOC) for further investigation and proper disposal. The successful interception of the illegal shipment is a testament to the collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies and vigilant community members in combating illicit activities in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Major Mukarram commended the locals’ cooperation in providing valuable information that led to the successful operation. He also emphasized the commitment of the maritime police to uphold the rule of law and ensure the safety and security of the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The apprehension of the suspects and the seizure of the contraband cigarettes send a strong message that illegal activities will not be tolerated in Pagadian City and its surrounding areas.
